p-Toluenesulfonylmethyl isocyanide is a synthetic reagent used in the synthesis of triplet drugs with the 1,3,5-trioxazatriquinane skeleton, pyrroles, oxazoles and in imidazoles. It serves as an isonitrile component in a diastereoselective Passerini reaction. Furthermore, it is used in the Van Leusen reaction to convert aldehydes to nitriles.

Anwendungen
p-Toluenesulfonylmethylisocyanid ist ein synthetisches Reagenz, das bei der Synthese von Triolenpräparaten mit dem 1,3,5-Trioxazatriquinan-Skelett, Pyrrolen, Oxazolen und in Imidazolen verwendet wird. Es dient als eine Isonitrilkomponente in einer diastereoselektiven Passerini-Reaktion. Es wird auch in der Van Leusen Reaktion zur Umwandlung von Aldehyden in Nitrile verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Chloroform und Methanol. Unlöslich in Wasser.
