p-Toluidine is an intermediate in the production of dyes, organic chemicals and aromatic azo compounds. It serves as a component of accelerators for cyanoacrylate glues. Furthermore, it acts as a bidentate Schiff base ligand through condensation with salicylaldehyde. It reacts with catecholamine to form a dye which is useful for spectrophotometric determination of catecholamine drugs.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. Anwendungen
p-Toluidin ist ein Zwischenprodukt bei der Herstellung von Farbstoffen, organischen Chemikalien und aromatischen Azoverbindungen. Es dient als Komponente von Beschleunigern für Cyanacrylat-Klebstoffe. Des Weiteren wirkt es durch Kondensation mit Salicylaldehyd als zweizähniger Ligand der Schiffschen Base. In einer Reaktion mit Katecholamin bildet es einen Farbstoff, der bei der spektrophotometrischen Bestimmung von Katecholaminpräparaten nützlich ist.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Ethanol, Pyridin, Diethylether, Aceton, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, Methanol, Kohlenstoffdisulfid, Ölen und verdünnten Säuren.

Hinweise
Inkompatibel mit starken Säuren, sauren Chloriden, sauren Anhydriden, Chloroformatten und starken Oxidationsmitteln.
