Terephthalaldehyde is used as an intermediate for the preparation of dyes and fluorescent whitening agents. It is used in the synthesis of polyimines by reacting with aliphatic diamines. It is used as a precursor for the preparation of paramagnetic microporous polymeric organic frameworks (POFs) through copolymerization with pyrrole, indole, and carbazole.

Terephthalaldehyd wird als Zwischenprodukt bei der Herstellung von Farbstoffen und fluoreszierenden Bleichmittel verwendet. Es wird bei der Synthese von Polyiminen durch Reaktion mit aliphatischen Diaminen verwendet. Es wird als Vorstufe für die Herstellung paramagnetischer mikroporöser organischer Polymergerüste durch Copolymerisierung mit Pyrrol, Indol und Carbazol verwendet.
